About us
Muckhart Horticultural Society dates back to 6th May 1875, when it’s first meeting was convened by Mr McAra of Rumbling Bridge Hotel and seventy members joined. The first show was held in September that year and shows have been held most years since then. It continues to be well supported by local residents and businesses today and is organised and run by a committee of volunteers helped by additional volunteers.
The Society aims to support everyone in the district who enjoys gardening and growing and learning about plants. It now includes the Pot and Bloom Group which cares for the village planters and has also planted more daffodils along the verges with the help of additional volunteers.
The Annual Village Show
The Annual Village Show takes place every year on the fourth Saturday in August in the Coronation Hall. Each household in the area gets a schedule earlier in the year and is invited to submit items for exhibitions into over 130 classes. These range from photographs to knitted goods, baking to artwork and we especially welcome children’s work. The schedule is also available in Mona’s of Muckhart, Muckhart Golf Club and other local businesses.
This year’s show is on Saturday 23rd August and the Horticultural Show Committee look forward to seeing you then with your brilliant work, plants and vegetables. If you would like to joint the committee, help on the day, or have any queries at all, please get in touch. You can email us at [email protected]. Follow us on Facebook to keep up to date.
Show Schedule
The Show Schedule details all the categories as well as general information. We have revamped the schedule this year and would like to especially thank Peter Nelson of Peter R Nelson Design for our wonderful new logo and cover! We hope you like it as much as we do. We would also like to thank our schedule advertisers this year whose support has allowed us to provide this year’s print copy free of charge.
