With the ongoing escalation of the COVID-19 virus, and the undoubted impact it will have on our community, MCC is looking at ways in which we can help to support local initiatives focussed on helping the more vulnerable residents within our community.

We hope soon to be providing a ‘registration facility’ on the MCC web-site where local volunteers can sign-up to offer their support on-line and plan to co-ordinate these efforts with other groups and initiatives within the community. We are also considering providing an on-line ‘help request’ facility, to be used by any residents who may require support, and how best to co-ordinate any support requests that may come in.

In the meantime, the CTSi has provided a community health guide (please see below) of services and organisations who might be able to provide some sort of assistance  within the constraints of the Government and NHS guidelines.

We’ve launched our latest solution to tackle Dog Fouling!

‘DO IT FOR YOUR DOG’

This weekend 11 million viewers watched the 2020 Crufts Best in Show wire-haired Dachshund  ‘Maisie’ do what dogs do and take a toilet break on her victory lap of the NEC arena.

Her owner Kim McCalmon came well prepared and immediately scooped up the mess with a bag. If only all dog owners would follow in Kim’s footsteps and act so responsibly! But sadly we know all too well that this isn’t the case.

Our latest research into Dog Fouling found that 15% of dog owners admit to letting their dog poop in a public place without picking up, leading to 76% of adults stepping in dog poop in their lifetime.

This is why we’ve launched our latest campaign to tackle this noxious problem. The campaign features dogs as the messenger, appealing directly to dog lovers and leveraging the levers of both pride and shame to remind owners to pick-up their poop because it’s what their dog would want them to do.

This year the annual fundraiser for the Coronation Hall will be a Southern Indian extravaganza, including a 3-course authentic Indian Buffet, traditional music, a dance performance and instruction (if wanted), traditional Indian games, raffle and lots more.

Do you (or does someone you know) live with myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME)?

If so, the Scottish Health Council is looking for people who are living with a diagnosis of ME to give their views about what support they would like to see in place.

These views will be used to help the Scottish Government to address particular gaps in knowledge and understanding about the care and support needs of those who are affected.

Scottish Woodlands Ltd and Bidwells are holding a Drop-in session for members of the community to discuss the opportunities and constraints relating to a proposed forestry planting project at Coulshill, Auchterarder.

All are welcome to attend and the organisers would like to hear your views on this project.

A Drop-In session for residents will take place on Wednesday 29th January at the Coronation Hall between 3:00 – 7:00pm.

Following this the Council’s Principal Planner will be attending the MCC Meeting at 7:30pm to introduce and discuss the latest MIR.

Muckhart Consultation

MCC will be providing an informal update for members of the community regarding the recent decision taken by the Council’s Principal Planner to recommend that the Council’s Planning Committee APPROVE Springfield’s Planning Application for 50 Houses, in Pool of Muckhart. This informal update will take place on SUNDAY 19th JANUARY in the CORONATION HALL at 7:00PM

In particular, MCC would encourage those members of our community who have submitted objections or comments to the Council, regarding this Application, and who should have received a letter from the Council asking if you would like to make an oral representation at next week’s Committee Meeting, to attend Sunday’s update.

Please Note: the small hall will be available for children to read, draw, etc., should you like to attend Sunday’s meeting but may struggle with child care arrangements, at such short notice.
